Updated Feb. 26: The Centennial Academic Decathlon team traveled to Collin College this past weekend to compete in the State Championship Meet. The team came back with 45 medals, including four State Champions, and set seven school records in the process. The following students took home individual awards:

Shanell Bagdasryants: Bronze in Speech

Jason Zhu: Gold in Math

Nikhil Kumar: Gold in Interview

Akhil Mulukutla: Gold in Interview

Johnny Hernandez: Silver in Economics and Gold in Math

Additionally, the whole team won Silver in the Superquiz Relay event which also included teammates Shreya Thakkar, Thomas Marquis, and Saketh Sarvepalli.

The team finished the year ranked seventh out of approximately 150 teams and now has pushed its streak to 13 consecutive years ranked in the top 10 in the state.

The Centennial Academic Decathlon team placed second at the Regional competition in January and will be headed to the State competition, to be held in Frisco at the end of the next week. The following eight students have worked tremendously hard, and are working even harder now to prepare for the stiff competition at the state level:
