FRISCO, TX — As the athletic seasons go on, the Centennial High School athletic trainers complete another week of learning how to assist and assess injuries on the field. In addition to their extensive training, the athletic trainers sometimes get help from a physical therapist, Katie Lynch.
Lynch works at the Baylor Scott & White Outpatient Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Center. She specializes in assisting those with sports injuries, particularly those affecting the knee, back, and foot. Her upbeat personality and enthusiasm for work bring smiles to her patients’ faces. Treating multiple patients a day, she makes it a priority to engage with her patients on a personal level so their therapy sessions remain enjoyable.
In addition to her role as a physical therapist, Lynch serves as the athletic trainer coordinator for Frisco schools, including Centennial. One of her many duties includes guiding the student athletic trainers during football games. She can be found on the sidelines, teaching them how to handle various situations on the field and sharing her knowledge on sports injuries.
“The opportunity to help students learn more about sports injuries was something I was willing to explore,” Lynch said. “I’ve always loved working with kids and teenagers who had injured themselves in a physical therapy setting, but working with teenagers and teaching them what I do on a daily basis is a whole other thing.”
Lynch’s positivity and energy not only brighten the physical therapy clinic but also the football field, where she inspires the athletic trainers to continue their learning. “Centennial High School is one of the many high schools I help out with, but I love working with the students there,” she said.
Centennial High School happily welcomes new members to its community, especially those who contribute to the growth and success of its students. Lynch’s presence is valued, and the student athletic trainers appreciate everything she does. Her passion for her work and kindness towards kids and teenagers reflects her deep passion for the profession, strengthening the athletic training program at Centennial.
