FRISCO, TX – Two years ago, the start of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour altered the lives of people from five to 50 years old. It’s unbelievable that the flashing lights, singing, cheering, and dancing have come to an end. However taking a look down memory lane, many fans have had their fair share of fun experiences. Here at Centennial High School, students have gone through a range of experiences surrounding the Eras Tour. From the Ticketmaster battle, picking outfits, and the anticipation of what surprise songs they will hear at the concert, many have made fond memories.
Veda Udtha, who was in the class of 2023 at Centennial High School, attended the Eras Tour when she was a senior. When asked about her experience at the Eras Tour and the chaos leading up to the big night, she expresses how excited she was when she got the tickets.
“Originally, I didn’t get tickets when they were first released. However, two weeks before the concert, my friend got a message from Ticketmaster that they opened up more seats and she was able to get some in time at a reasonable price.”
Many agree that getting tickets for the concert was a great war. However, for those who attended the Eras Tour, the night was certainly sparkling and will be one that is never forgotten. Ranjana Ram, a current Centennial High School senior, was a sophomore when she attended the concert.
“I wasn’t a diehard Taylor fan like the rest of my friends so I wasn’t really prepared for the Eras Tour. It was honestly surreal and amazing and I didn’t know she would be performing for 3 hours, but every hour was worth it,” Ram said. “My favorite part of the show would be the beginning with all the pink and purple flags. It was just really pretty.”
Big-time fans, known as Swifties, have spent their evenings and midnights watching the concert through glitchy live streams on Tiktok, and others have been to multiple concerts in the 51 different cities Swift has toured. In the blink of an eye, two years have passed since the first mention of the tour. Many of Swift’s fans have grown up, and grown with the artist herself, as senior Pooja Patel mentions.
“We’ve grown and so has she. It’s crazy to think I was a sophomore when I attended the tour, and now I’m a senior. The end of the Eras Tour almost feels like the end of an era for me, as high school is about to end.”
Dec. 9th marked the end of the tour. Although it’s a bittersweet moment, it’s time to accept the end. From multiple album releases, and music video releases, the Eras Tour had it all. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it will surely be missed.
