FRISCO, TEXAS — Many clubs populate the vibrant landscape of the student ecosystem, but possibly the most colorful of them all is the Art Club, sponsored by Ms. Chana Jayme in B120.
Art club senior officer Ailey Brownlow shared what to expect at meetings. “We do a lot of different things actually, it depends. Sometimes we do holiday crafts, decorate the halls for Homecoming, or do food-related things. It’s just a fun little artsy place for people who can come if they’re bored.”
Similarly, fellow art club senior officer Andrea Tomic said, “We do a lot of different activities, we try to base them around holidays, but sometimes we’ll just do fun, random activities, and at the end you’ll have something to take home out of it.”
Ms. Jayme discussed how she became the club’s sponsor. “I didn’t decide to, when I got hired here six years ago, that was part of the job, and there were only two art teachers here including me. I had always run art club at other schools I’d been at, so it was a pleasure to do it here as well.”
Asked about what they would consider to be a “draw” to the club (pun intended), Brownlow said that it was a “non-judgemental club” that you didn’t have to be good at art to join, but was more about having fun whilst completing crafts. Tomic said that most members used the club as a “creative outlet” for those who couldn’t share their artistic creativity in other clubs.
