FRISCO, TEXAS — Although we are only halfway through the school year, it is already time to start planning your 2025-2026 school year schedule and updating your four-year plan with your counselor.
Counselors met with students to discuss the updated four-year plans on Nov. 16 for 9th graders, Nov. 18 for 10th graders, and Dec. 2 for 11th graders. They also provided instructions for 2025-2026 application-based courses. Now, students must choose their classes for next year and complete their course cards. The final step is meeting with a counselor to submit your final schedule card by Feb. 13, 2025.
If you’re interested in courses requiring an application process, be sure to coordinate with your counselor and the teacher involved in hosting the class. For any course requiring an application, put the class you would like to be in next year along with an alternative to a different elective as a backup plan.
For students registering for advanced or dual credit courses, Centennial Counselor Cindy Marshal shared some important details. “For Advanced/AP, students simply write the courses on their schedule card as instructed in the course registration video. For Dual Credit, writing it on the card is only the CHS part of the process. Interested students and their parents should attend the info session on 1/21 to find out how to take the next steps with Collin College.”
Finally, please choose your classes with caution. Overloading on hard classes is very common and can be difficult to get out of if you don’t take the right steps. So, how hard is it to change classes? According to Marshal, “Before the deadline, no! After the deadline, yes! Students are expected to fully research their options before turning in their schedule cards the first week of February. After that, there will be a very small window to make changes for next year. We will be adhering to the district’s February 13th deadline for changes to next year’s courses outside of courses requiring a tryout or application. An email will go out the 2nd week of February with the Google Form to make changes, but there will be a quick turnaround.”
