FRISCO, TEXAS — Being involved at Centennial High School (CHS) can range from playing a sport to being part of an academic club. One exciting category of involvement is the CHS spirit groups! Spirit groups play a vital role in boosting morale and fostering a sense of community among students. Spirit groups include the CHS drill team (the Sweethearts), cheerleading team, and Colorguard, appealing to diverse interests.
The Centennial Sweethearts have many inspiring and memorable opportunities. Their team events benefit the community in countless ways, like performing at halftime, basketball games, and pep rallies. Sweethearts perform at Varsity Football games, go to intense contests in the spring, and end with a bang with their final show.
Centennial Cheer also fosters a strong sense of community and school spirit, bringing students together to support their teams and each other. Cheer similarly does many events, including cheering at the Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Football games, competing at UIL, performing at pep rallies, and helping at community events like Rising Freshman Night and the annual Turkey Trot. “Cheer has helped me connect with the school community and student body while boosting my confidence in and out of uniform,” shared freshman cheerleader Bria Whatley.
The final spirit group is Centennial Colorguard. Colorguard performs at Varsity football games and competes in UIL later in the year. Participating in Colorguard allows individuals to express their creativity while working as a team, fostering friendships, and creating a sense of belonging.
Centennial High School offers a variety of spirit groups for students to join. Each group has unique activities and events, from cheering at football games to performing at community events. By joining a spirit group, you can contribute to school spirit and build long-lasting memories and friendships.
