FRISCO, TEXAS ー Centennial’s National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the school’s largest programs, with 517 members. Throughout the year, the organization works to give back to its community and make Frisco a better place. Additionally, there are always ways for members to enjoy fun events planned with the community.

On Sep.17, NHS hosted its first social of the year, NHS Game Show Night, a staff-versus-students event held after school in the library. It featured game show staples, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, with prizes for the winning teams and dinner for all participants. The event was entirely officer-led and with officers serving in different roles throughout the night.

“I liked the theatrics of setting it up, getting music and a slideshow that paid homage to the original game shows, was a fun, creative challenge,” shared Senior Officer Grayson Bell.

The night began with Jeopardy, which indicated how the rest of the night would fare. The teachers were able to gain the lead in points due to their teaching positions and world knowledge, much to the frustration of the students.

“I don’t think it was cheating. It’s just that adults have lived longer lives and accumulated more wisdom and knowledge than a typical teenager,” Mr. Davenport shared.

The students worked to catch up, accumulating points in pop culture and history. When the game ended, the staff were in the lead with student teams quickly gaining on them. The students saw more success in Wheel of Fortune, with their teams winning more rounds and obtaining more points.

Despite their hard work, the students weren’t able to surpass the staff in points, and ultimately teachers won Game Show Night.
