During January, America’s favorite board game hosted a vote as to which pieces to include in the newest generation of the Monopoly board game. The results of this vote were reported on World Monopoly Day (March 19th) and they stated that the Scottie dog, top hat, car, battleship, and cat will remain safe and will be included in the next generation. Sadly, the same could not be said for the thimble, the wheelbarrow, and the boot.

Hasbro’s senior vice president of marketing for Hasbro Gaming believes that “these pieces don’t resonant as much with fans as [they] used to.” The three pieces to replace include a T-Rex, a rubber ducky, and a penguin. Although some are upset by this change, most are excited about these new pieces and are happy with Hasbro’s involvement with the community.
