Global Village
September 12, 2017
Frisco’s first multicultural festival, Global Village, was held Sunday in the Square. The festival included 70 interactive cultural booths, a diverse variety of foods and cultural performances.
Frisco is turning more and more multicultural as the years go on and is becoming a true “global village.” According to suburbanstats.org, 74 percent of Frisco’s total population of 168,140 is white, 12 percent is Hispanic or Latino, nine percent is Asian and eight percent is African American. Demographics in Frisco ISD, however, are slightly different: 47.70 percent of students are white, 23.84 percent are Asian, 13.65 percent are Hispanic and 10.52 percent are African American, according to friscoisd.org. In addition, five percent of FISD students are bilingual in one or more of the 70 plus languages served in FISD.
