There are 6,909 languages spoken in the world. There are 6,909 ways to say hi, or 6,909 ways to ask how someone is doing. With all these languages we could all find at least two to learn.

Knowing two languages has a lot of benefits. One is employment. Being bilingual means more opportunity. A company might be more likely to hire you if you can speak two languages.You can also earn more money depending on where you work.

Another reason it’s important is travel. While in a foreign speaking country you can communicate with the locals. You will know exactly what you are eating or you can ask for directions. Maybe you could even make a new friend.  

In my opinion, one of the best reasons to learn another language is it helps your brain. It has shown to improve focus, and studies in Scotland show that bilingual kids have better problem solving skills than monolingual kids.

There are tons of other reasons to learn another language. So I encourage all of you to go out and learn another language. You never know what kind of doors you will open up, or people you’ll meet.
