Every year, there are more and more changes happening at FISD. Most recently it has been decided that lunch might look different in the school years to come.

First launched at Lebanon Trail High School at the start of the 2018-2019 school year, mega lunch is the new style of lunch that will be rolled out. It combines the 30 minutes for advisory and the 30 minutes for lunch into a one-hour free period.

“Our mega lunch schedule is more convenient for students,” Jacob Duce, LTHS principal said. “They have flexibility in voice and choice in how they divide that time.”

Mega lunch is meant to give students more options for how they spend their time. It also promotes tutorials, club meetings, eating and even socializing. Students will get the choice of how to spend their time do any combination of these activities.

Mega lunch has been met with praise from both students and faculty alike on the pilot campus. The addition of this lunch style is predicted to be beneficial on many campuses in FISD.

It is not conformed yet if it will be adopted by all FISD high schools in the 2019-2020 school year.
