FISD Implements YouTube Change

Laura Nicolescu, Co-Editor-In-Chief

Frisco ISD has implemented a new policy set to go into effect this week enabling restricted access in YouTube which blocks inappropriate and unknown content. To access approved content you must login to your FISD Google Account.

This means that if you are trying to watch a YouTube video for class and it is blocked, you need to make sure that you’re logged in to your FISD Google account within YouTube. If it’s still blocked and would like to request that a video or channel be placed on the approved content list for FISD, you may ask your teacher to unblock it by justifying the educational need for the video.

As a reminder, you may not try to evade this new policy by using your phone’s personal data plan, as it is an FISD policy that while at school you use wifi on mobile devices including your phone. If you find websites are blocked on wifi that are normally unblocked on an FISD desktop computer, log in to the filter.
