FRISCO, TEXAS — People today struggle in many ways, whether it’s stress, anxiety, or depression, and it can look like there’s no way out. Sometimes people just need to take a break and have peace of mind for a couple of minutes; one way to do that is through Centennial’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
The FCA takes place during advisory every Thursday in room B102. During that time, members discuss the word of God, reflect on it, and even pray. This organization is perfect for people who want to be around others of the same faith and build strong connections.
Despite its name, the FCA is open to anyone who wants to learn more about scriptures.
“No matter if you’re an athlete, Christian, or anything, the main purpose is to have a time throughout the school day to really settle, rest your mind, and we read scriptures together,” FCA leader Georgia Mayfield shared.
Some may ask why they should go, but the FCA has good people to talk to, who are supportive, caring, and do not let others feel left out. The people of FCA discuss scripture and their meaning to help them on their journey
“I decided to join the FCA because of two reasons,” Senior Hanjoon Yun shared, “One, my friends asked me to join, so I went to one of the Bible studies in my sophomore year, and I really enjoyed the preaching that one of the student leaders was doing in such a short amount of time. And I just enjoyed being around other Christians and the discussions that happen.”
While life can feel like two walls closing in, nobody needs to feel alone, because nobody is. Sometimes, people just need people to be with or talk to. FCA can be a place to go, especially for anyone who has faith in God and His word.
