Six singers from the Choir Department competed in the TMEA Region 24 Pre-Area Auditions at Independence last Tuesday for a chance to make the Texas All-State Choir. Of the six, five singers advanced:

Samantha Benovitz (Soprano 1) – 3rd chair

Niyoosha Talukder (Soprano 2) – 1st alternate, 6th chair

Moraa Kombo (Alto 2) – 4th chair

Chandler Tidwell (Alto 2) – 5th chair

Ashwin Krishnan (Tenor 1) – 4th chair

This is a huge accomplishment: only the top five singers are selected from 15 well-trained singers from the surrounding regions of Plano, Frisco, Little Elm, and Prosper.

Their final step toward making the nationally renown Texas All-State Choirs takes place Jan. 13 at University of Texas at Arlington. They will be competing against singers from all over the metroplex.
